The Orlando Magic have kept their roster relatively stable this offseason, but will that translate into on-court success?
Let’s recap what’s happened over the last few months:
Added:
• SF/SG Quentin Richardson by signing Richardson to a four-year deal worth about $10.2 million, including a player option for the 2013-14 season
• PG Chris Duhon by signing Duhon to a four-year deal worth about $15 million
Retained:
• SG J.J. Redick by matching Redick’s three-year, $19 million offer sheet from the Chicago Bulls
• PG Jason Williams by re-signing Williams to what is believed to be a one-year deal worth $1.35 million
Drafted:
• C Daniel Orton (29th overall) and SF Stanley Robinson (59th overall)
Meanwhile, SF Matt Barnes, PG Anthony Johnson and C Adonal Foyle are no longer with the team.
So, the Magic did not make any earth-shattering moves. But, at the same time, they seem primed to enter training camp with largely the same roster that finished last season with the NBA’s second-best regular-season record. Coach Stan Van Gundy has said the stability on the roster should help as the team preps for the 2010-11 season.
